Getting Back Into It!

I’ve been missing from here for a month! It’s been quite a busy time with work lately and because of the awful hours I do I’ve been unable to get myself motivated to do anything creative at all.

I think after the Christmas period where my home was DIY central, and the fact that company doesn’t allow you to take days off in December I was completely overwhelmed and had to take a step back.

After a much anticipated week off from work I am finally back in the swing of things. I have even started back up with my weekly yoga (three weeks in a row) WOW haha.

So I have made myself a cappuccino, got my trusty ideas book back out and have a slightly too festive candle for this time of year on, I am raring to go! So watch this space!

Lunch Date at Bierrex!

My boyfriend and I took a half day from work and decided to go for lunch at Bierrex in Newcastle. We have both been here before for drinks but never had the food and it is always being recommended to us, so I was excited to try it out. Because we went on a week day it wasn’t too busy and we got a good pick of the booths.

Here’s the lunch time menu:

This is the evening menu in case you go a little later on:

Both menu images are taken from the Bierrex website.

I ordered a cappuccino before my meal, it was really good quality coffee!

We both decided to go for the Hot Link Hogey, I also got a side of Collard Greens with mine.

I love the interior of Bierrex, it has two tones of green painted on the wood panelling. They have gold paintings across all of the walls, of pigs, greenery and such. I really love the colour scheme.

I would really recommend going to Bierrex, we always have a nice time here when we go for drinks and the food was really good too!

A Stressful Day!

I don’t really talk about my job on here, mainly because it’s something I’m not very happy with at the moment, which is something I’m trying hard to change. I try to keep my blog positive- a safe space for me to come to just share my interests and focus on the good parts of my life, which is why I never bring it up. But with this being such a busy week at work; my blog (and my sanity) has been suffering because of it and I hate it.

I’ve really enjoyed getting regular posts out there, it’s just really nice to have somewhere to group the good things about your life and you can really feel proud of it.

But today has been extra stressful and with an already bad morning behind me I had some bad news about tomorrow’s shift added on. So I decided to use my small break to pop to Starbucks and buy a drink and a cookie and just relaxed in the car to try and perk myself up!

It’s really easy to focus on the negatives in life, especially during work, but I think it’s important to find something that you can focus on to make you feel better. Even if it’s just looking at nice photos on your break, like your pet or loved one, I know I do that a lot haha!

I don’t usually do this but because it’s pay day week I feel like I can. It’s funny how something so small can make a nice difference to your day!

I don’t know if it was all the sugar and caffeine (probably was) but I did feel a lot better and it give a bit of a boost to get back to work. I do shift work, I start at 7am and finish between 8:30 to 9pm so anything that helps me keep some energy is great!

Anyway sorry about this ramble, hopefully I’ll get myself back on track very soon!

Ask Me Anything Sunday!

I thought that I would start a weekly post with more information about myself. I feel like this will be a great way to share more about myself and to get to know others too. I’ll answer 10 questions each week and if anyone would like to ask anything leave them below and I’ll answer them next week 🙂 The following questions are taken from an online post.

Question 1

Are you artistic?
I am artistic, I like to paint and studied photography for four years. I’ve always loved being creative – that was the main reason for creating this blog.

Question 2

Have you had your first kiss?
I have, I’m 22 at the moment and my first kiss in my early teens.

Question 3

What is your life goal?
I don’t have a set plan but one thing I’m really working towards at the moment is buying my own home. I am renting a place right now and my boyfriend and I have been saving for a deposit for our own place for a few years now.

Question 4

Were you a cute kid?
I would like to think so – here’s a photo of me and my brother in the 90’s.

Question 5

What’s your worst fear?
I am very claustrophobic.

Question 6

Do you like to read?
I do, I love to read. Since I started working full I don’t have as much free time to read but I always try to find time on my days off.

Question 7

Are you a morning person?
I am not! I find it very hard to get out of bed when my alarms goes off. (who would want to leave this bed?)

Question 8

How do you feel about pet names?

I’m okay when a partner uses them, as long as there not too much of a cringe haha.

Question 9

Do you play any sports?
I don’t – the only physical actives I do is a lot of walking and occasionally I do yoga or swimming.

Question 10

Chocolate or sugar?

I would have to say sugar, because I have sugar in my coffee every day and I cook with it, I do also prefer savoury snacks. Like nachos, yum! (but I love chocolate chip cookies – hard choice)

A Day in My Life

I thought I would document and share my day with you today! I spent most the day at home as I didn’t have work on and had no plans, so here is what a typical home day looks like for me!

First I got up and had breakfast, I made a cup of coffee and a ham and cheese croissant.

I like to open up the Juliet balcony doors while I have my coffee to take in our lovely view. Because it is a Juliet balcony you don’t have anywhere to step out but like to just open the doors and let the fresh air and sounds of the river in.

I spent my morning making pom pom decorations with the new products I bought from Hobbycraft, I showed this in a previous blog post. I wont show the finished craft because I’ll be doing its own separate post in the next few days.

For lunch I made a tuna salad, I used a mix leaf salad bag, chopped onions and cherry tomatoes with salad cream on top. Delicious!

For the rest of my afternoon I spent my time getting ready and doing my studies for work. Just lots of reading and writing!

For today’s make up I started with my foundation, powder and eyebrows (I forgot to take photos before this point)

I then used my Ted Baker Eye Shadow Trio – just the colour in the middle. I used this all over my lid and under my eyes.

I then added a cat eye with a liquid eyeliner and applied mascara.

Then I put on my matt bronzer under my cheek bones to contour and add some colour to my face.

I applied highlighter to my cheek bones, tip of my nose, cupids bow and brow bones to add a nice bit of glow to my skin.

Lastly I added this Calvin Klein lipstick in the colour ‘Fusion’. Its a really nice purple and you can layer it to make a really dark colour but I put this on over a  lip balm to make it more muted.

For my hair I just brushed it through and made a high ponytail. I then added this white headband.

I then went to pick my boyfriend up from work as he doesn’t drive and I have the car so like to get him whenever I’m free.

Once home I made us tea, we had pork which I slow cooked in an apple butter, with boiled potatoes and sweet peas. I also added a small mozzarella salad with balsamic glaze on top.

After tea we chatted and caught up on our day and then watched tv before heading to bed.

That’s my whole day! I hope you liked this post.

Patisserie Valerie

It was my boyfriends birthday on Friday and we decided to go out for a light lunch as we had a big meal planned for that night. We decided on Patisserie Valerie as neither of us had been there before and had always wanted to. Its a lovely little cafe situated near Monument in Newcastle city centre.

As this is quite a small place there was a bit of wait for a table to become available. Once shown to our seats we were given a menu to choose from. We both ordered a coffee, I had a Cappuccino and my boyfriend had a Flat White.

For lunch I ordered the Ham and Cheese Croissant and my boyfriend had the Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich. They had the most amazing deserts available but because we had a meal to attend that night we decided not to indulge.

I noticed a lot tables enjoying afternoon tea with a beautiful selection of small sandwiches and cakes, I would love to do the same on my next visit. Overall we really enjoyed our little lunch here, the atmosphere is really nice and you felt really well looked after by the staff. I will certainly be returning.
